Mesquite vessel with turquoise inlay, 4.63" tall

The mesquite limb from which I turned this was cracked and utterly beetle-eaten. I turned away the wormy sapwood to get to this good heartwood, then had to repair the central crack in stages as I went, since the damage was structural. I’m very pleased with how it came out. The holes, of course, are from the beetle larvae. The hole in the foot does go all the way through. You can’t readily tell from the photo, but the hollow of the foot is a shallow cone, echoing the overall shape. The rim is the chain-sawn edge from the original cutting of the limb.
