“Yearning to Heal: Pear Heavy, Reaching”: Pear bowl with chainsawn rim, 7.81" tall

This pear bowl was also turned green and has no finish. I left the wood naked, because pear is the most sensual wood I’ve worked with, and I wanted nothing between the wood and the holder’s hands. As the green wood dried, it contracted, adding to its tactile appeal and warping the bowl slightly. The chainsawn rim was the cut surface of the log from which I turned the bowl. Though I turned this tall bowl thin at the top, I left the base heavy, to emphasize the sense of reaching. This is the third in a series of pear bowls made on the theme of healing.
