“Learning to Heal: Pear Naked and Unapologetic”: Pear bowl with chainsawn rim, 6.38" in diameter

This pear bowl was turned green and has no finish. I left the wood naked, because pear is the most sensual wood I’ve worked with, and I wanted nothing between the wood and the holder’s hands. As the green wood dried, it contracted, adding to its tactile appeal and warping the bowl slightly. The chainsawn rim was the cut surface of the log from which I turned the bowl. This is another piece made during the 2007 International Turning Exchange.
