“Mother and Child”: Carved, turned cherry bowls, 10.63" and 6.2" in diameter

This delicate piece consists of two bowls, with the “child” taken from the center of the “mother.” Both are thin-wall bowls, but the “child” is pasteboard thin, inspired by the frailty of an infant’s skull. Turned green, the smaller bowl dried slightly oblong. The larger bowl is carved at the rim and foot. The piece was created during the 2007 International Turning Exchange.
