Mesquite vessel with turquoise inlay, 6.5"

This heavy bowl is the most southwestern of all my pieces—in material (mesquite and turquoise) and shape (reminiscent of some Native American clay pots). To accommodate the patch of bark I left, the lower wall is thick, adding pleasing mass to the piece. The turquoise filling the cracks is real, ground to granules and bonded with epoxy. The grain of the wood is lively, with some nice fiddleback.
